Dr. Anne Beatrice Kihara, President-Elect of the African Federation of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (AFOG) and a senior lecturer in the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University of Nairobi, makes a citation about the first lady, Margaret Kenyatta during the First lady’s award of Fellowship Honoraris Causa Award from the Royal college of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) in Cape Town, South Africa. Dr. Kihara described the First Lady as a person who carries herself with grace, determination, commitment, focus and passion especially when addressing the plight of women and children.

The fellowships are the highest award given by the RCOG. The RCOG awards Fellowship of Honoraris Causa to individuals who are non-members in recognition of their efforts towards the advancement of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, women’s health services and other works of RCOG. The First Lady was awarded for her concerted efforts to reduce maternal and child mortality in Kenya.
