On 3rd July 2019, perinatal care stakeholders met at Silver Springs Hotel for the dissemination of ‘Saving the Lives of those Born Too Soon: a Mixed Methods Study of Essential Newborn Care in Kenya’.

The primary objective of ‘Born Too Soon’ study is to develop an early warning trigger and track monitoring system for preterm (<37 weeks gestation) or low-birth weight (<2500g) infants.

The study was conducted at Kenyatta National Hospital over eight weeks in March and April 2019. It was a collaboration between the University of Nairobi and University of Nottingham, UK. The Kenya team comprised Prof. Zahida Qureshi, Prof. Fredrick Were, Dr. Alfred Osoti and Dr. George Gwako.
