MSAUN students in conjunction with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology University of Nairobi

We organized a two day Medical Camp in Isiolo on the 4th and 5th of May 2013.

Medical Camp turned out to be an amazing success.

Our team comprised 15 medical practitioners and 85 Muslim Medical students both male and female to bring the total number of volunteers to 100.

We set up camp at Isiolo Medical Centre on the early morning of Saturday 4th May and divided ourselves into various departments such as:

Triage and Vitals

Internal Medicine (male and female)

Paediatrics

Obstetrics and Gynaecology

Surgery

Ophthalmology

Dentistry

Pharmacy

We saw a total of 886 adult medical patients and 614 paediatric patients. All children were given de-worming therapy.

With the assistance of Post Graduate Surgical Residents, we were able to perform 5 major and 10 minor surgeries at the Isiolo District Hospital. All operations were totally free of cost to the patient, including the theatre fees and anaesthesia.

With the help of Community Health Education Program (CHEPS), we were able to provide on-site specialised diagnosis and treatment for eye diseases to over 250 patients and were even able to perform 59 Cataract surgeries. These surgeries will forever change the way these people see the world, literally.

Thanks to a team of Dental specialists, we carried out numerous (over 300) tooth extractions and additional dental procedures.

The team returned to Nairobi on Monday 6th morning with the satisfaction of having improved the lives of approximately 2000 extremely needy members of the Muslim ummah.

Attached are some images of the camp.
