The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology recently conducted the Nairobi County initiation visit for the E-MASTER Study at Royal Canaan Hotel, Nairobi, bringing together county health leadership, healthcare providers, and research teams ahead of study implementation. The study will be conducted at Mbagathi County Hospital and St. Mary's Hospital.
Building on the successes and lessons from the E-MOTIVE Study, the E-MASTER Study focuses on the measurement and management of postpartum haemorrhage (PPH) among mothers undergoing caesarean section deliveries. The initiation meeting provided a platform to discuss study objectives, implementation strategies, site preparedness, stakeholder engagement, and the importance of accurate blood loss measurement in improving maternal health outcomes. The study is expected to generate critical evidence to strengthen the prevention, early detection, and management of PPH, ultimately contributing to safer childbirth and reduced maternal morbidity and mortality.
The study leadership through Prof. Zahida Qureshi and Dr.George Gwako was well represented and they reaffirmed their commitment to successful implementation and collaboration with county and facility teams throughout the study period.
