Community Advisory Board (CAB) site visit at Machakos Level 5 Hospital.
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, through the REACH Trial, recently hosted a Community Advisory Board (CAB) site visit at Machakos Level 5 Hospital led by Dr. Margaret Lubaale-HENNET,Dr.Joyce Nganga and Dr. Brenda Bonareri-WACI Foundation.
The objective was to strengthen community engagement and assess study implementation. The visit provided an opportunity for the CAB to observe the participant journey, engage with healthcare providers, and offer recommendations to enhance community awareness and participant recruitment.
The delegation commended the study team's commitment to high-quality research, ethical conduct, and effective implementation of the REACH Trial, while recognizing the strong community trust demonstrated by the absence of participant refusals or withdrawals since recruitment began.
The visit reaffirmed the importance of community partnerships in advancing maternal health research and improving the prevention and management of postpartum haemorrhage.
The visit under the leadership of Prof. Zahida Qureshi, Prof. Alfred Osoti and Dr. George Gwako was well represented by Dr.George Mugendi, the study Pharmacist and Ms. Nancy Mose the study coordinator. Present also was the hospital leadership led by Dr. Alice Isika the Obsgyn Lead.
