Dear Staff and Students,
The University of Nairobi will host the celebration of the 2022 International Day of Persons with Disability (IDPWD) on Friday, November 2, December 2022 at the Hyslop Parking and in Taifa Hall from 8.30 am.
The theme for the 2022 celebrations is: “Holistic participation of Persons with Disabilities in higher learning institutions toward a more inclusive, accessible, and sustainable world”
The event will be an inter-university forum on disability awareness whereby persons with disabilities within the University Community, Universities within Nairobi, and Corporates/industry partners will grace the occasion. The following activities will take place;
§ Band Procession from Main Campus to Graduation Square
§ Adaptive Sports – Wheelchair Basketball and Para- chess games (for blind and persons with
§ physical disabilities) played by Kenyatta University and University of Nairobi Male and Female Students.
§ Panel Discussion on “Universities and Industries as catalysts for the realization of 5% employment opportunities for Persons with disabilities”
§ Registration of Persons with disabilities by NCPWD
§ Showcase of Talents
The following are the expected outcomes:
§ Increased disability awareness within the University Community and higher learning institutions.
§ Enhanced participation and visibility of persons with disabilities in University community
§ Showcased talents and abilities of persons with disabilities within the University Community and higher learning institutions
§ Enhanced strategic collaborations towards disability inclusion in the University community.
