The Department of Literature has organized an international multi-sectoral public event to memorialize the life of Prof. Micere Githae Mugo who passed away, on 30th June 2023. Prof. Micere Githae Mugo is a former lecturer in the Department of Literature and a former Dean of the Faculty of Arts. The Department of Literature has organized the above event to memorialize her life and work as a writer, academic and public intellectual. The details are as follows:

Guest speaker: Dr. Githinji Gitahi - Group Chief Executive Officer, AMREF Health Africa.

He is a passionate advocate for pro-poor Universal Health Coverage and joined Amref Health Africa as the Global Chief Executive Officer in June 2015. In December 2018, Dr. Gitahi was bestowed the 2018 ‘Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear’ (MBS) by the President of Kenya in recognition of his outstanding contribution and commitment to the health sector.
